Ruby land in 2000

Latest update:

In the year 2000 I was still using Windows 98 SE & thinking about upgrading to a glistening Windows 2000. Being in the late teens, I had never heard about neither Linux nor Ruby. My favourite language of choice was (Visual) C++.

Meanwhile in Japan:

$ wc -l < ruby-land-in-2000.txt
122

.txt file is a list of "who's who" that I dug up from archive.org. Each line in the file represents a maintainer or a participant.

Looking through the list it isn't terribly hard to notice that the vast majority of folks in it are Japanese. Those, whose names didn't sound like Nipponese, I prefixed with an asterisk.

$ grep ^\* ruby-land-in-2000.txt | wc -l
8

Times sure have changed.
